OHIO FRANCHISE LAWS

Franchise Registration in Ohio.  There is no state franchise registration required in Ohio.

 

Business Opportunity Exemption Registration in Ohio.  The Ohio Business Opportunity Plans law is broad enough to cover most franchises.  Ohio Revised Code Section 1334.01.

However, there is an exemption for “Any transaction that complies in all material respects with the [FTC Franchise Rule].  This exemption is automatically effective and does not require any filing.  Ohio Revised Code Section 1334.13(A).

Franchise Disclosure in Ohio.  Ohio has no state franchise disclosure laws.  So, there are no special state disclosures required in an FDD used in Ohio.

 

Franchise Relationship Law in Ohio.  Ohio has no state franchise relationship laws for business format franchises.
